tim_tebow_AP670675953400_620x350Ryan Bradley plays couch coach in Week 6 of his NFL Diary. His advice: fire Tom Coughlin, bench Eli Manning and Matt Schaub, and sign you know who.

We’re far enough into the season now to start realizing some teams are unlikely to make the playoffs. It’s okay to say it, some teams just don’t have it this year. With that in mind I think it’s time to play America’s favorite game, Armchair Quarterback (which really should be called Couch Coach). So here I am to offer my helping hand in making those tough decisions some teams are faced with.

The Jacksonville Jaguars may be in the worst condition of any team in the NFL and a large part of this is due to how much their fan base hates them. This is a team that is trying to ply fans with cheap beer and still no one comes to a game. There is one thing that would please a lot of them, though, and it won’t cost the team a lot of money or make them any worse than they already are. In fact it will likely increase their ticket sales far above what they would be for the rest of the season, not to mention merchandising.

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but just sign Tim Tebow already. I thought Blaine Gabbert would be a better NFL quarterback than he has turned out to be, but I was wrong. Chad Henne’s obviously not the answer. You’re 0-6 and a joke around the league. Why not exploit Tebow’s rabid (and delusional) fan club?

The New York Giants are in complete disarray. It’s time to seriously consider the future of the franchise and be proactive in making sure this bad year doesn’t go plural. It’s time to ditch Tom Coughlin. He’s been a successful head coach, but the team has moved past his abilities to lead and motivate. Bench Eli Manning. What’s the worst that happens, you lose more games?

The likelihood of making the playoffs this year is incredibly slim, so either you ride this out and let Manning gain or lose confidence, or you start to see what the future holds and let Ryan Nassib take the reigns for the rest of the year. Either you find out he doesn’t have what it takes and find that out during a losing year, or you find that out down the road when you actually need to count on him. And if he turns out to be a godsend? Well, then you look like a genius.

Well, Houston Texans I tried to warn you it was going to be a rough year, and it’s been even rougher than I thought. Here’s the silver lining: you didn’t make the mistake every other team with a better than average quarterback makes, you didn’t mortgage the farm to give Matt Schaub that crazy Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco money. So, now’s the time, skip down to your third string and give the rookie, Case Keenum a shot. He went to college in Houston and it was just last season so fans remember him! You’re in a Giants-esque position and you might as well road-test the young guy so you know if you need to scrap the program and find a new franchise-potential quarterback.

For all you coaches and front offices wary of my advice, who told you Kiko Alonso was going to kill it for Buffalo this year? That’s right I did, and the guy is leading the league in tackles and interceptions. Who told you Eli Manning was overrated? I did! And he’s thrown 15 interceptions to just 9 touchdowns (not to mention nearly half the seasons of his career he’s finished with a QBR under 50).

So, maybe give my advice a little consideration. You can thank me later.
